SecLytics Rebrands as Augur Security, Raises $7M to Advance AI-Powered Threat Prevention

·

SecLytics, the cybersecurity company known for using AI to predict and block cyberattacks, is now operating under a new name — Augur Security — and it’s doing so with a fresh $7 million in seed funding to scale its platform.

The San Diego-based company, founded in 2014, isn’t new to the game. But this rebrand signals a sharpened focus: turning years of AI and behavioral research into a next-generation threat prevention platform designed to stop attacks before they even begin.

A Shift from Detection to Prediction

Most security tools today are reactive — they alert after something suspicious has already made it into the network. Augur takes the opposite approach. It uses AI to scan the internet for early indicators of attack setups — like infrastructure being staged or attacker behaviors showing patterns — and creates proactive blocklists to stop threats well before they make contact.

Here’s what makes their approach stand out:

  • Predicts threats an average of 51 days in advance
  • Near-zero false positives, thanks to a decade of ML refinement
  • Behavioral profiling of attackers to recognize intent early
  • Continuous enrichment from global threat telemetry

It’s not just theory — this approach is already being used across energy, finance, healthcare, telecom, and critical infrastructure sectors.

Seamless Integration with Your Stack

One of the more practical benefits is how easily Augur fits into existing security environments. The platform integrates with:

  • EDR platforms
  • Firewalls
  • SIEM
  • SOAR systems

That means security teams can automatically enforce threat intelligence while maintaining full visibility and control over how that intelligence is applied. No need to rip and replace.

New Funding, New Momentum

The $7 million seed round, led by General Advance with participation from multiple angel investors, will go toward expanding Augur’s capabilities and accelerating platform development.

In the words of CEO Joe Lea:

“Our platform has refined a decade of machine learning, behavioral research, and real-world threat telemetry into a continuously evolving knowledge base of adversary behavior. This comprehensive dataset empowers Augur to predict, detect, and disrupt threats with unparalleled accuracy.”

This isn’t just about money — it’s about momentum for a model of cybersecurity that breaks the cycle of chasing alerts and starts taking the offensive against attackers.
