Scamnetic Raises $13 Million to Combat AI-Powered Scams in Real Time

·

Scamnetic just raised $13 million in Series A funding to take on one of the most urgent threats in cybersecurity today—scams.

That brings the Florida-based startup’s total raise to $16 million, and the backing includes Roo Capital, 1st and Main Growth Partners, Riptide Ventures, and SaaS Ventures.

If you think scam protection sounds like consumer-only territory, think again. Scams now account for over 80% of all cybercrime losses, and the lines between consumer and enterprise risk are blurring fast—especially with remote work, personal device usage, and AI-generated fraud tactics.

Scamnetic came out of stealth in August 2024, and their pitch is simple: use AI to fight scams powered by AI. And they’re not just another email filter.

Here’s what sets them apart:

  • Real-time threat detection across emails, messages, QR codes, physical mail, and even images
  • Verification tools for audio, video, and text communications to stop impersonation scams (think: fake Zoom calls, deepfake videos, spoofed chats)
  • Scam recovery hotline for victims—yes, a real support line
  • Education tools to help people and teams stay ahead of emerging threats

It’s a full-spectrum approach—not just blocking scams, but responding and recovering when they happen.

Why This Funding Round Matters

Let’s be honest—scams have exploded. The FBI reports $13.7 billion in scam-related cybercrime losses in 2024 alone. That’s 83% of all cybercrime losses. Investment fraud, business email compromise (BEC), and tech support scams topped the charts.

Scamnetic is aiming directly at this mess. According to Roo Capital’s Spencer Cecola:

“The world needs to fight AI with AI. Scamnetic is tackling this urgent challenge with a product that actually works.”

And they’re putting the new funding to work by:

  • Expanding marketing, sales, and support
  • Speeding up product development
  • Getting in front of more organizations and consumers
